Those of you not familiar, Harringtons Hair Salon is located in the most idyllic position, situated at The Old Boathouse, Thameside, overlooking the river and close to the bridge. The upstairs treatment room is the perfect oasis for deep relaxation as it is a calm healing environment as well as being conveniently located.

Pre-Regatta Pamper Evening and Reiki?

I was delighted and excited to be invited to participate in the Harringtons Pre-Regatta Pamper Evening, which was held last night at the salon’s beautiful riverside location. I was asked to contribute by offering taster Reiki sessions; 15 minute slots for people to experience the Reiki energies for the first time. The evening was a resounding success with over 70 ladies in attendance, and approximately 15 different stations for treatments and services offered by local professionals, ranging from reflexology, eyelash tinting, cosmetic dentistry, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) amongst others, and of course the Riverside Skin Clinic which offers a range of beauty services and operates within the Harringtons salon at Henley.
I was not expecting to be quite so busy, but I am delighted to say that the evening was a superb experience for me and appeared to be a big hit with those ladies who booked appointments. I have never participated in taster sessions, as typically my Reiki treatments last an hour, and my treatment room is quite and relaxing; a little oasis away from the daily hub-bub, however the setting could not have been more different and with just 15 minute slots and working with complete strangers I must confess as I was a little apprehensive as to the benefits that could be achieved.
Why did I worry…? Because I always do! Sometimes it’s easy to forget that which is not visible to us. Everyone received a healing – and some really could feel the energies too. All commented on the fact that they were amazed at how relaxed they felt during and after the treatment, despite the noisy surroundings and I sincerely hope I get to see them again. So, we did managed to create a little energetic oasis after all.

Papaya Leaf Extract

I am always amazed the way that information finds its way into my consciousness. I don’t beleive in chance and coincidences; I rather feel that syncronicity is a better description. I have been fortunate enough of late, to be working with some pretty amazing people, some of whom have been battling various forms of cancer. So I was delighted when I heard from my US business partner, quite by chance, about a recent study that had gained media attention in the US, which had previously not been on my radar.

Recent research conducted by Dr Nam Dang at the University of Florida in conjuntion with colleagues in Tokyo, have shown that Papaya Leaf Extract may slow the growth of cancerous tumours according to his paper recently published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology: An interdisciplinary journal devoted to indigenous drugs.

“Papaya has a dramatic anticancer effect against a broad range of lab-grown tumours, including cancers of the cervix, breast, liver, lung and pancreas,” says Dr. Dang, as quoted in The Telegraph on March 11th, 2010.
The tropical fruit, also know as Paw Paw, has been used as a folk remedy in many areas of the world for a variety of ailments, particularly in Asia. Dang states, “The success of the papaya extract in acting on cancer without toxicity research is consistent with reports from indigenous poplulations from Australia and Vietnam.”
So, watch this space. I must point out there is no clinical evidence that I can find which states the clear anti-cancer benefits at this time, outside of Dang’s research, but I thought these initial findings very interesting and worthy of further investigation.

I invited a small group to meet on a weekly basis consisting of like-minded friends, healing professionals and cosmic thinkers, with the purpose of sharing ideas on health and well being, and to explore the concept of consciousness. The aim being to help heal ourselves and others, as well as the planet. A natural progression, with much knowledge exchanged, support given, and fun had, was to extend this forum to other individuals and groups further afield.
